What We Believe

Statement of Faith & Teachings

About God the Father

God created all and is sovereign above all creation. He exists eternally in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. There is one God in three persons.
(Genesis 1:1; 3:22; Matthew 28:19; Psalm 90:2; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, our Lord and Savior, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven's glory and will return to earth again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
(Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13)

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. We seek to live under His control daily.
(2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:25)

About the Bible

The Bible is God's Word to all people, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

About Mankind

People are made in the image of God to be like Him. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although God is perfect, all humans are flawed and have sinned, and it is our sin that separates us from God.
(Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)

About Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to all people provided only by His Son, Jesus Christ. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works. By grace we are saved through faith from sin's penalty by trusting in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice as God's offer of forgiveness, by confessing our faith publicly, repenting of our sins, and being baptized.
(Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1, Romans 6:4-5, Acts 2:38-39)

About Daily Life

As a believer in Christ and recipient of His salvation, we are meant to love God first and with our whole being and we are to love all of God's children. All other interaction with God and His children will follow: seek God for daily provision and return praise and glory to Him, follow God's commands, forgive others of wrongdoing, pray for one another, and spread the good news of salvation.
(Matthew 22:36-40; Matthew 6:25, Matthew 6:34; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; John 14:15; Ephesians 4:32; James 5:16, Matthew 28:19-20)

About Eternity

Eternity is how long we were created to exist with God. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.
(John 3:16; 1 John 2:25, 5:11-13; Romans 6:23)

About The Church

The church is the body of Christ on earth. The church transcends humanity's divisions - where God has a child, we have brothers and sisters. The church exists to love and care for one another and all those in need, communicate the good news of new life in Jesus Christ to the world, to teach His followers to obey His teachings, and to equip His followers for ministry. The church is made up of all those who have placed their faith in Christ.
(Acts 2:44-47; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 4:11-14; Acts 2:38-39)

About Prayer & Praise

We believe that God hears and answers the prayers of His people. He requires that we petition Him and bring Him praise, honor, and glory.
(1 John 5:14-15; Psalm 150:6)

About Marriage & Family

The family is an institution designed by God for the benefit of His creation. The family begins with the marriage of one man and one woman joined together by God and includes their children. Husbands and wives are to be expressions of the love of Christ for the Church and are to remain faithful to one another.
(Matthew 19:5-6; Ephesians 5:25; Hebrews 13:4; Ephesians 6:1-4; Proverbs 22:6)

About Gender and Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully created each person. We believe that God created humanity as male or female. We believe that rejection of one's biological gender is a rejection of the image of God in that person. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including extra-marital & pre-marital sexual activity, homosexual & bisexual activity, incest, and pornography) are sinful and offensive to God.
(Genesis 1:26-27; Matthew 5:27-28; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
