Wilderness campers worship, learn, & grow in God's creation. Come hike, climb, camp, & raft on white water in this week of outdoor adventure.

Base Camp is limited to only 24 students and Outpost & Venture are limited to only 12 students-so sign up quickly!

Base Camp

4th-6th Grades Fall 2023
Five Sessions

Base Camp is setup on Camp ACC's campus and each daily activity is within a short drive of the camp, so they can return to base camp each night, where they sleep in our very basic cabins. Being younger campers, we want to keep these campers close with access to conveniences if needed. With that said, unless emergencies arise, the campers will do everything outside - worship, cooking, eating, classes, and daily adventures.

Program Director: Ernie Simmons
Ernie Simmons is a native of East Tennessee. He graduated from the university of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry Recreation. Ernie has been employed as Maintenance Supervisor at The Mall at Johnson City for 13 1/2 years. He has been involved in Camp ACC as a volunteer for TruthQuest and Summit for several years. Ernie attends Boones Creek Christian Church with his wife Kristan and daughters Olivia and Sarah.

Alison Horton grew up attending camps at Camp ACC and has served as a counselor for Pee Wee, Junior, and Pathway camps for several years. Alison served several summers on summer staff as a Base Camp Guide. Alison currently lives in Lynchburg, VA where teaches Music Education and attends Grace Church.

Outpost

7th-9th Grades Fall 2023
Four Sessions

Having moved up from the Base Camp experience, these campers will set up camp in outpost(s). The Program Director for a given session may choose one location to serve as their outpost, from which they will do each daily activity. Or they may have 2 or 3 outposts that serve their activity needs. These campers will sleep in tents every night.

Program Director: Mike Beverly
Mike Beverly is the Minister of Indian Springs Christian Church and serves on the Board of Directors of Camp ACC. In addition to serving as a Program Director of Outpost since 2007, Mike has also co-directed Core 2 since 2003.

Mike also teaches a camping club at Tri-Cities Christian School and authored "Trail Mix: A Backpacker's Devotional Guide". Mike has a lifetime of outdoor experiences to draw on in helping others know what to do and what not to do in the wilderness. Mike and his wife Tabby have four children who love to go camping with them.

Venture campers will travel further and be much more mobile than Base Camp or Outpost camps. Being the oldest set of campers, we take them great distances to discover great adventures in our region.

Landon McMurray grew up attending Camp ACC and served 5 years on Camp ACC Summer Staff on the Maintenance Staff and as Outpost and Venture Guides. Landon is an Architect in Greenville, SC.
